Arts Elevated

At the Wasatch County Arts Council, our work is rooted in elevating the arts across the valley—supporting artists and organizations, sharing resources, and helping build a community where creativity thrives. This newsletter is where we share stories, opportunities, and examples of how the arts are growing and showing up throughout Wasatch County.

The Wasatch TAP Grant: Supporting the Arts

The Wasatch TAP Grant (Transient Room Tax Advisory Panel Grant) is administered through Wasatch County and its municipalities. It allows a portion of tourism tax revenue to be reinvested into projects that enhance quality of life for residents while strengthening the visitor experience. The arts are a key part of that equation.

For independent arts organizations, TAP funding can mean:

  • Launching or sustaining free and low-cost public events
  • Paying local artists and performers for their work
  • Investing in equipment, marketing, or infrastructure
  • Expanding access to arts experiences for families, students, and seniors

These grants help turn creative ideas into real, shared experiences—supporting local talent while enriching the cultural fabric of Wasatch County.

The next TAP Grant application cycle is currently open, with applications due February 27.

How TAP Funding Shows Up in Our Community

TAP funding supports arts organizations in practical, visible ways. Here are a few success stories that show how this support has strengthened arts programming across the valley.

Wasatch Camerata

Wasatch Camerata Chamber Singers is very grateful for our TAP grant funding. The singers volunteer their time and talents, but it takes money to purchase music, provide printed programs, print publicity posters and signs, rent venues and pay extra musicians. Our program has grown with the ability to purchase new music for each concert. With funds to offer honorariums, we are able to perform pieces that are greatly enhanced with the addition of instrumentalists. Our patron list is growing rapidly. In fact, the appeal of our group to the local community has been somewhat of a surprise. We were unable to accommodate a large number of patrons at our last concert, unfortunately, because we didn’t anticipate such a large audience. We feel that having the financial backing and advocacy of the local government has really made continuing our vision possible.

Wasatch County Library Community Concert Series

The Wasatch County Library Community Concert Series used TAP funding to support artist fees, promotion, and production for its free, family-friendly concert series. This funding helped sustain monthly performances that bring live music into an accessible public space and introduce audiences of all ages to local musicians.

The result is greater access to the arts, meaningful paid opportunities for artists, and a library that serves as a vibrant gathering place for the community.

Heber City Limits Concert Series

Heber City Limits used TAP funding to upgrade sound equipment, invest in marketing and website hosting, and expand the reach of its live music programming. In 2025, the series hosted eight shows for more than 400 attendees, creating welcoming spaces where neighbors gather around original music.

The result is stronger support for artists and more opportunities for residents to experience live music close to home.
